Quick Answer
Use Teak Magic (a two-part cleaner + brightener) to restore weathered teak. Use Teak Clean for routine upkeep on lightly soiled teak. Finish either method with Triton 2.0 to seal and protect. Both systems are eco-friendly and safe to use with the boat in the water.

Teak decks are a beautiful sight to behold… when they're clean. Without proper cleaning and maintenance, your teak turns from golden to weathered and grimy over time. The good news? It's easy to renew your teak decks in just a few simple steps.
This guide walks you through DiTEC's two teak cleaning systems — when to use each, and the exact steps to follow.
Which System Should I Use?
Teak Magic — for full restoration:
- Severely weathered, grey, or neglected teak
- Teak in sensitive areas or near finished metals
- Teak that hasn't been cleaned in 6+ months
Teak Clean — for routine maintenance:
- Regular maintenance cleanings
- Lightly soiled or newer teak
- Follow-up cleanings after a Teak Magic treatment
Before You Begin
- Work from top to bottom if your boat has multiple levels, allowing the product to drip to the lower decks.
- Dampen your teak first to make the process easier.
- Both Teak Magic and Teak Clean are eco-friendly and biodegradable, so you can keep your boat in the water while cleaning your decks.
- Wear proper safety gear, including nitrile gloves.
Method 1: Full Restoration with Teak Magic + Triton 2.0
Use this method if your teak needs a serious refresher or is in an area near finished metals.
You'll need: Teak Magic Part 1 (Cleaner), Teak Magic Part 2 (Brightener), a clean bucket, a foam brush or polypropylene scrub pad, fresh water, clean cloths, and Triton 2.0 Teak Shield.
Part 1 — Clean
- Prepare the solution. In a clean bucket, mix one part Teak Magic Part 1 with four parts fresh water (1:4).
- Apply evenly. Use a foam brush, deck brush, or polypropylene scrub pad to spread Part 1 evenly onto the damp teak.
- Let it dwell for 3–5 minutes.
- Scrub gently with a medium polypropylene scrub pad, working with and against the grain using medium pressure.
- Rinse thoroughly with fresh water, paying attention to cleats and scuppers.
Part 2 — Brighten
- Prepare the solution. Re-dampen the surface. Mix one part Teak Magic Part 2 with four parts fresh water (1:4).
- Apply evenly with a foam brush, soft bristle deck brush, or medium scrub pad. No scrubbing needed — let the product do the work.
- Let it dwell for 3–5 minutes.
- Rinse thoroughly with fresh water once the teak brightens.
- Dry completely before sealing.
Part 3 — Seal
- Apply Triton 2.0 Teak Shield to protect against UV, dirt, oil, and water. Reapply every few months for best results.

Method 2: Routine Maintenance with Teak Clean + Triton 2.0
Use this method for regular upkeep or as a follow-up after a Teak Magic treatment.
You'll need: Teak Clean, a deck brush or doodle pad, a clean cloth or applicator pad, fresh water, and Triton 2.0 Teak Shield.
- Apply Teak Clean over the damp surface and let it sit for 30 seconds to 5 minutes to lift light stains.
- Gently scrub with the grain using a deck brush or 3M medium blue Doodlebug pad. Frequently rinse your brush to remove embedded wood fibers, and continue until no fibers remain after scrubbing.
- Rinse and dry the deck thoroughly.
- Apply Triton 2.0 Teak Shield once dry. Reapply every few months for best results.
